You are to use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. -- I Peter 4:10
The goal of our church mission outreach is make disciples and to show the love and grace of Jesus Christ with everyone everywhere!
Local Outreach Programs
As a church, we have a special responsibility right now to help our families, schools and neighbors. Several of our local ministry partners have asked for assistance in the following ways:
This group along with several other ladies have made over 600 masks for our church members and families. Some of the masks were donated to a local school for the administrators to use while distributing meals to their students.
We continue to provide dinner at the downtown men's shelter on the first Thursday of the month. Even though we cannot serve the dinner, we are able to deliver a meal. Our Foundations class will prepare the meal in June.
Manna Ministries- Alabaster
Grocery delivery for families in need is ongoing through curb side pick up at this ministry in Alabaster. The worship service has been cancelled for now. Volunteers are needed on Saturday morning to help with loading the groceries into client's vehicles.
Ronald McDonald House- Birmingham
Through your faithful giving to our Faith Promise fund for missions, we were able to provide two meals in April and May for the families who are currently staying at their downtown facility.
The Young Adult group made five Easter baskets for the children of the women residents at The WellHouse. The baskets brightened the day for those precious children and their mother.
Morning Prayer Group
This group is working diligently to help us stay connected with our members and community. They are writing notes each week and calling members to check on them.
Thank you, Helena UMC for your prayers, presence and financial contributions! It is because of you that we are able to continue to share the love of Christ with our community.

VIDEO FROM OUR FESTIVAL OF THREE KINGS EVENT IN DECEMBER:
Helena UMC has sponsored our Festival of Three Kings project for over 10 years -- where church members buy Christmas gifts for the foster children in Shelby County DHR ... plus the church holds a morning of games, Santa visits and more for the foster children each December.
It's one of our favorite mission projects each year!

International Mission Opportunities
TMS Global- Costa Rica
We are partnered with Beth & Brian Tatum to send a team of six volunteers to work with them in March. The team had a fantastic time and will share their story soon!
Challenge Farm- Kenya
We contributed money toward the purchase of a 4 wheel drive vehicle for the farm to use daily as they transport children to and from the village.
As a church, we contributed monies to offset the cost of the mission trip to Honduras. A team of 18 people ranging in ages of 16-83 years served last year. There were 24 professions of faith and of those, 19 were children. God is good!
The dates for the next trip are June 1-8, 2021 and we would love to have you be a part of this trip.
Sozo Children- Uganda
This ministry just completed the move to their new home in Uganda. Their local thrift marketplace store located in Avondale helps to support the facility in Uganda. Volunteer opportunities are available to sort clothing at the thrift store any weekend. Our children's ministry packed over 40 shoe boxes that will be shipped to the children's home just in time for Christmas this year. We are planning a mission trip in May 2021 to Uganda to serve alongside Sozo Children. Interested? Contact Sherri Smith.
